Liz passed away after a long illness in May 2025 . She had been a member of the club for many years and had been a long serving member on the committee.  More recently she had been made an Honorary member a role she developed into being a Mentor , helping and encouraging new members. She helped me enormously advising on curating when I first joined the committee as one of the members responsible for Events

Liz was passionate about art and continued to create throughout her illness. When she was no longer able to attend the club she wanted to to keep up with what everyone was doing and one of her friends organised for us to send work through to her so she could look at what everyone was up to.

Liz will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. She was a strong woman who had led an interesting life and achieved much. She had many interests and loved nature which she expressed so well in paint and later when her eyes prevented her from working in colour, through pencil, which she perfected.

Anne-Marie Eccles , (Chair)

Her family have kindly given us permission to keep her page on our site.

‘My love of drawing and painting started as a young child . I have been a member of Beverley Art Club for many years. The main focus of my work is celebrating nature as I enjoy painting plants , trees and landscapes.

My chosen medium has been watercolour and pencil , which recently has evolved into mainly working in pencil. Sketching remains an important part of my process.’
