The club will also be closed on the 29th March as it is Good Friday.

The club will meet again on the 5th April

Updates to the Diary of Events have been made and we have Larry Malkin joining us as April’s visiting Artist . He will be demonstrating how we can paint a landscape more loosely using tools we can find around the home including  a pizza cutter , ruler, trowels and credit card, (we all have that messy drawer in our kitchen , don’t we ?).

Members will be working in either oils or acrylics to produce “owl in autumn’.

The resources and equipment list has already been sent to members and a discussion about canvases , paints and resources at the Thursday meeting was helpful.

I will be bringing in a canvas and also some cardboard to demonstrate prepping with gesso and some acrylics in for those wanting a pre workshop practice on the 5th April.

The feedback sheets were very useful to help with planning and I will let you know the findings when everyone has had a chance to fill one in .

We are hoping to have Robin visit us again in May to help those who would like help with their painting journey . He will also be meeting with the committee to discuss the life drawing session we hope to include in our programme.

Geoff Hewitt will be leading a Portrait in Charcoal session on the 7th June. There will be more information about this session  to follow.

We have a few members who have already shown interest in making their own sketch books and this will be something that we can organise to fit in at any time . A  few examples will be brought in for those who wish to explore this and then on a one to one or how ever many want to we can make either a concertina book , a book with signatures joined with rubber bands or a board book.

We have a’ drawing corner ‘where a few members including Sandy , our Treasurer can be found working in mainly pencil. You are welcome to join them and pick up some tips , share reference photos and enthuse about drawing.

Something to add to your new sketch book!

We will be holding our Annual Art Exhibitition at the Minster in June . Please start to think about what you might wish to include. More information to follow.
