Beverley Art Gallery Open Art Exhibition
Four members of our Art Club were included in this the 24th Annual Open Art Exhibition.
It has been a hectic six months since relocating to Oldroyd’s Corner and I wasn’t sure that I would be able to enter this year but managed to deliver mine on the first day with no expectation of a place. When I took in my painting I could see that there were already lots of work already handed in and on leaving the art gallery spotted a number of people clearly carrying art work and heading for the gallery.
This year applicants received an email to say whether they had been successful or not, which was much easier than having to ring in to find out whether you were going to have to return to collect it.
I was busy at the Art Club when Irealised I hadn’t checked my emails on the designated decision day . i had entered previously and not been accepted and so was both suprised and delighted to have been accepted . It was even more exciting to find that there were four members in total .
The launch day was a great experience and lovely to see that Terry Ashbridge’s work was placed closed to mine as we had both entered figurative pieces. There were lots of artists with their families having their photos taken alongside their work and I succumbed to having my photo taken which is a rare occurance as I prefer to be on the other side of the camera.

Featured image shows the florals . Lesley’s tulips can be seen top row second in from the right.
A quick look through the catalogue and I found both Lesley Gibbons work a lovely painting of Tulips and then John Fewings digital piece of Hull History Centre.
There were familiar faces and lots of searching to find out which work they had submitted and artists who I didn’t know but would love to see more of what they do . There was so much to see and I know I’m going to have to go back at a quieter time so that I can spend more time looking at the pieces that studying some fabulous art work and check out their art pages to learn more about the artists .
I would recommend visiting this exhibition if you haven’t already done so as there really is something for everyone and for those on their own art journey there is lots to inspire you.
