Peter Ainsworth will be running a workshop on the 23rd February 2024 starting at 1pm.. He will take you through the process of how to create a landscape using pastels .This workshop will be open to members of Beverley Art Club .
Any one wishing to participate will need to let the committee know by the 19th February. This will enable us to organise any printing for those who have no access to a printer.
Materials needed:
1 blue sketching crayon, 1 sheet of 9inch by 12 inch sanded pastel paper,(fine grade sand paper will do )and 10 Rembrand
or similar pastels (half sticks are best see slide 9). you can work on the flat or a table easel. Peter will bring rubbing alcohol, but they will need 2-3 rough bristle brushes for the wetting process. you will need cloths to keep your hands clean, pastels for the top layers : SAA or Unison are fine, as are Faber . The colours you will need are those you think will produce the colours in the information provided , as in pic. 14. Jacksons sell a small set of 24 square section half sticks for seven pounds and a smaller set for fourteen pounds. An apron would also be handy.
This step by step workshop will include a prompt sheet which he has put together for this session and will be emailed to you along with information about different pastels to suit a range of budgets.
He has also provided a copy of the reference photo that he will be using on the day and the handout has illustrations, which show the stages that the work will go through to the completion of the landscape.
Members who wish to attend the club but not participate in the workshop will still be able to attend and a space will be provided for them to work on their own projects.
The Diary of Events will be updated with any changes and so will be included as part of every post published.
